Depack the PTBurnServersoftware ZIP file into a temporary folder of your choice.
Remove a potentially installed older version of the PTBurn service software using the software control panel.
Install the printer driver for the burn robot by launching the installation program DriverDPSEv1.30-32-64.exe from the PTBurnServersoftware\Druckertreiber folder and following the instructions of the installation program.
Install the SureThing LabelDesigner and the associated software by launching the installation program SurethingInstaller5.2.661.1.exe from the PTBurnServersoftware\SureThing folder and following the instructions of the installation program.
Connect the burn robot to the computer using the included USB 2.0 cable.
Now install the actual PTBurn service by launching the installation program setup.exe from the PTBurnServersoftware\PTBurnDienst\Server folder and following the instructions of the installation program.
Now restart the computer.
(Some lines about making sure the software runs correctly, the installed network share, and maybe how to edit the PTSetup.ini are missing here)
Launch the installation program MDP-Z-1.2.5.2-Setup.exe with administrative rights.
- The installer first asks you where to install the executable program files after acknowledging the license agreement. If you don't want to change the location or folder you can just agree to the default with "Next".
- Now you'll be asked for the port number that the DICOM receiver should listen on to receive DICOM data. The port number 104 reserved for DICOM communications is preset here. If this port is already in use (maybe because another DICOM application on this computer uses it already) then you should change the port number. Otherwise you can just accept the default with "Next".
- If you install the program on the same computer that the burn robot is attached to and the PTBurn service is installed then you can opt for an express installation in the next dialog which will skip the following choices and adopt the recommended default settings. This option saves time during installation, but limits the amount of choices you get. If you install the program on a networked computer to which the burn robot is not directly connected to and on which the PTBurn service is not installed this option is not available since the installer is not able to read the default settings regarding the folders of the PTBurn service out of its configuration files and these have to be specified manually.
- The installer now asks in which folder the include files should be stored. These files encompass the DICOM viewer that (together with received DICOM images) will be copied to each disc. The default is a sub-folder of the program folder. If you don't want to change the location or folder you can again just use "Next" to confirm the default.
- Next you'll be asked where the folder for the print templates should be placed. The print templates folder contains examples of print templates that may be used to label the finished discs. The default is a sub-folder of the application data folder of "All Users". Please note the selected folder because after the installation individual modifications of the print template should be carried out. You can accept the default setting here as well when you don't want to change the location.
- Now you'll be asked where the working folder should be placed. In the working folder MDP-Z will store all received DICOM images and the data that will be burned onto the discs. The default is again a sub-folder of the application data folder of "All Users". This preset is adequate for most users but you better make sure that the selected folder is located on a local hard drive (for performance reasons) and that the selected drive provides enough free space because the received images plus the prepared burn-data could require a lot of space. Just endorse the choice of location for the working folder with "Next" as before.
- If you install the program on the same computer the burn robot is attached to and the PTBurn service is installed on, you'll now see an overview where the PTBurn service expects the data of the burn jobs and the name of the network share that can be used to access this folder from the network. These information are necessary for an installation of the program on a computer to which the burn robot is not directly attached and where the PTBurn service is not installed.
- If you install the program on a networked computer to which the burn robot is not directly connected and where the PTBurn service is not installed you'll instead will see a dialog asking you to specify the network share name that has to be used to access the folder of the PTBurn service that holds the burn jobs. This network share name may be learned from the overview described previously. To go on just press "Next" as usual.
- Now you'll be asked where the PTBurn service expects to find his burn jobs. If you install the program on the computer the burn robot is directly attached to and where the PTBurn service is installed then just accept the given preset. If you install the program on a networked computer where the burn robot is not directly connected to and where the PTBurn service is not installed then again the location may be gathered from the previously described overview.
- The last questions are the name of the start menu folder and if an icon of the program should be created on the desktop.
Following an overview of the selected options and the planned tasks the program will be installed and configured.
To conclude you can opt to automatically open the SureThing CD Label Designer with the selected print template so you can connect the selected print label with the selected print merge file. (See also Preparing the print templates for label printing)
To correctly label discs with print labels these must be "connected" to print merge files.
The first three steps will be done by the Windows installation program if you accept the option offered at the end of the installation process to start the SureThing CD Label Designer with the configured print label.
- Launch the SureThing CD Label Designer using its entry in the start menu from the "SureThing" folder or by just double-clicking one of the print templates with the .std extension from one of the print template folders.
- Now the SureThing CD Label Designer will start.
- If you have not started the Label Designer by double-clicking one of the print template files then open a print template using the "Open..." command from the "File" drop down menu and select the desired print template file with the extension .std.
- Connect the print template file with the corresponding print merge file by selecting "Set Merge File..." from the "Tools" drop down menu and then choosing the print merge file with the .csv extension corresponding to the print template file that resides in the same folder. If the corresponding print merge file has been renamed with the prefix "Renamed_" by the MDP-Z program, then rename that file so that it no longer has the "Renamed_" prefix. (Because of technical requirements the print merge file will be renamed by the MDP-Z program on each print which could unfortunately lead to problems if one wants to change a print label using the Label Designer.)
- Save the print label file by selecting "Save" from the "File" drop down menu.
Now you should customize the print label according to your needs.
For example the disc could show the name and address of your medical practice.
These modifications can be done using the SureThing CD Label Designer by modifying the print labels according to your wishes.
The exact procedures are described in the SureThing CD Label Designer's online help that you can access by pressing F1.
The program is now completely installed and usable.
